Cover Letter
Lóreal

October 2, 2018
Dear Sir or Madam:
I would like to express my strong interest in a full-time position at Lóreal. I believe that my strong technical and interpersonal skills combined with my experience working on research and design projects make me an ideal candidate for this position.
While pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the City College of New York, I have focused on several extracurricular activities to complement my education, including hands-on research experience and campus involvement. Last summer, I was sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to conduct international research at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. For three months, I conducted research on femtosecond laser patterning of cell scaffold materials for 3D vascularization modeling. I worked collaboratively with other research students and was able to hone my analytical and observational skills in a professional setting. At the end of my research, I presented my results to a panel of students and professors, which allowed me to improve my public speaking abilities. I went on to present my research at the 2017 AICHE Annual Student Conference Poster Competition where I received 1st place in the “Food, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology” category for my research topic and presentation skills.
Additionally, I have worked with a team of students on a senior design project in which we simulated a process flowsheet using ASPEN and performed an economic analysis of the conversion of excess steam and landfill gas to hydrogen. I was responsible for managing team logistics and distributing responsibilities among my peers. I also became proficient in extracting relevant information from multiple research papers for our final report.
Aside from my research and design experience, I work as a Welcome Team Member at Lucille Roberts Gym, which has provided me with a strong customer focus. My experience as a customer service specialist has taught me the importance of conflict resolution and time management. I am also a judo coach and instructor where I teach students fighting techniques and disciplinary habits. Both jobs require me to multi-task and ensure members of the club are satisfied. As a Welcome Team Member and judo instructor, I am required to demonstrate leadership skills and provide guidance when complications arise.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any additional information for an interview. I can be reached at [email protected] or by phone at (347) 592-7256. I look forward to hearing back from you and to have the opportunity to discuss how I could make a positive and meaningful contribution at Lóreal through my hard work, dedication, and desire to innovate.
Sincerely,
Sabrina McCarthy
